Eligibility:

In addition to the criteria indicated for each award category, the following will guide selection of nominees:

  1. All full-time and part-time employees can be nominated for these awards.
  2. Nominators may re-submit a nomination for a candidate previously nominated, but not selected to receive an award. A nomination does not automatically convey to the following year.

  3. Previous winners in an award category are not eligible to be nominated again for the same award for a minimum of five years. They are, however, eligible for nomination in another category as appropriate.

Nomination Procedure

(Revised February 2013)

Each nomination must include the following, uploaded in pdf format:

  • Submit ONLY ONE nomination letter, signed by the supervisor, nominator and/or department nominating committee.  This letter should: (1) be no longer than one page; (2) summarize the entire nomination, emphasizing the criteria appropriate for the award; (3) truly be just a summary of the nomination, since the details of the nominee’s accomplishments will be used to answer online questions (provided on the website); and (4) be in pdf format.
  • Answer the three or four questions relating to the award criteria. The questions will be in online format, and each will have a text box below it where the nominator will paste his/her answer to that question.  Answers will be limited to 500 words per question.
  • OPTIONAL: Upload supporting documentation (research papers, extension hand-outs, event programs, letters of support, etc.) and explain their relevance in the answers.  Supporting documentation should only be included if used to answer the online questions.
  • Submit a current CV or resume in pdf format.  (Same as in previous years)
  • Provide a 400-word summary statement, which is required, but will not be read or used by the awards committee.  It will be used exclusively in the Awards Program should the nominee win, and it should be copied or gleaned directly from the nomination letter.

Nominees may only be nominated for one award per year. (Same as in previous years)

If there is only one nominee for an award, then the award will not be presented that year.

All required documents must be provided. Incomplete nomination packets will not be reviewed by the Awards Committee.  Only members of the Awards Committee will be given access to the folders of nominees.

This committee will consist of one representative from each of the college’s six departments, Institute of Applied Agriculture, UME East Region, UME West Region, AES, and a chair appointed by the Dean.  The Dean will consider membership from a listing of previous award winners, previous members of the Awards Committee, and individuals who have been conscientious about sending forward nominations, as well as other faculty and staff.  Membership will be established on a two-year term basis and staggered to provide needed continuity.
